Red Eye Cafe in Raymond Terrace settles comfortably into the neighborhood as a relaxed spot where locals come for more than just a caffeine fix. This cafe and breakfast restaurant blends the casual coffee shop vibe with a solid menu, making it a go-to for those mornings when you want a hearty start or a laid-back catch-up over quality brew.

Situated at 1/40 William St, it offers a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, the latter being a clear draw for dog owners and small groups looking to enjoy the fresh air. The outdoor tables create a welcoming, easy-going atmosphere especially on mild days, while inside there's enough space for people working remotely or meeting friends, reflecting a community-focused energy without feeling crowded.

The coffee here carries consistent praise—from the smooth cappuccinos to more indulgent options like the chocolate frappe or mocha chiller, the baristas clearly take their craft seriously. For locals who cherish their morning ritual or a Sunday morning coffee break, Red Eye Cafe strikes a balance between reliably good coffee and a comfortable spot to linger.

Food-wise, the menu covers breakfast classics and daily favorites with a few standout dishes that draw repeat visits: bacon and egg rolls, eggs benedict topped with salmon, and the big brekkie for those who want something filling. There's also sweet treats like carrot cake and homemade scones served with quality cream, which pairs well with a pot of loose leaf tea. Portions tend to be generous, though some diners find the pricing leans on the higher side.

This place feels particularly suited to families and regulars who appreciate attentive, familiar service and a staff that remembers your preferences. Whether you’re dropping in for waffles and avo smash after a morning walk or settling in for a casual lunch, there’s a genuine warmth to the experience that reflects its role in the local rhythm.

Best for: Casual breakfasts and coffee dates, working sessions away from home, family brunches, and dog-friendly outdoor seating.

Who will enjoy it: Locals seeking consistent coffee and breakfast nearby, groups in need of space to spread out, and anyone who likes a neighborhood cafe with friendly, accommodating staff.

The food was good, we thought it was a bit overpriced. My eggs benedict werr good but large breakfast was not as good as expected. Overall a positive experience. It's good to be there with a dog, as there were plenty of outside tables. Coffee was good.

Fantastic café with plenty of options to sit. Ideal for groups (indoor and outdoor options). I was working with my laptop for a while and I found the place to be comfortable to do so. I ordered the homemade scones and they were delicious. The cream that they use is also good The coffee was well prepared and the staff was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend it!

Just had THE BEST bacon and egg roll I think I have ever had in my life at Red Eye. $15.50 special including cup of coffee. Good quality bacon and eggs, great flavours, on a beautiful fresh bun. Service friendly and efficient, great range including homemade cakes and slices. Great coffee. Great spot to sit and write and watch the passing parade in Raymond Terrace through the large windows. Everything a cafe should be.
